Alias Media is Sydney based Multimedia and Interactive Artist + Designer Rhys Turner.
Recently completed a Masters of Visual Arts at Sydney College of the Arts in Media Arts and winning an Australian Postgraduate Award, Rhys, has been exploring new media modes since exhibiting at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, in the students section of 2001: A space Odyssey: Sensation and Immersion. His work moves through different new media forms form web (www.digital-dirt.com.au) to DVD (Industrial 3x3) and CDROM and interactive sound programs (Synaesthesia 1).
Video Stereo is a part of his current body of work. And has received rave reviews. The artwork was selected as part of the PICA (Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts) Graduate show for 2004. To view an Art Life Blogspot review on the show click here. The artwork is a turn table that uses a computer to allow the audience to interact with video playing through the vinyl palter. An innovative piece hardware and software for the MAX/MSP environment was used which was created by Ms Pink called Maxi Patch. Rhys Turner is utilizing the system currently to do VJ performances.
The whole premise of Rhys Turners Electronic Arts is to explore emerging technologies in light of discovering new ways of perceiving the world.
